To support other communities outside of my local region, I joined the Cambodia Service Learning Trip in winter again, this time as an Organizing Committee Member to support and empower my colleagues in their service to the Cambodian children. In the service, my team visited and supported three different NGOs from within the city to rural villages.
Empower Asia is an NGO that aims to equip the next generation of leaders in Asia through holistic coaching and mentoring. I, along with some of my colleagues, have volunteered to work with them and create a promotional video for the NGO.
"Break the Wall" is a Community Service Challenge done by the Raven nest of the REDbird 2016 cohort. The service comprised of a campus tour, tour around the Wong Tai Sin Temple, and Lunch gathering with dumplings for ethnic minorities. This service provides cultural exchange between HKUST students and ethnic minorities.
As a service to the community, I went with the REDbird community to visit the Cornwall school, an institute of the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong for severely mentally handicapped children.
To experience the challenges several others face, the Dialogue in the Dark aims to simulate the experience of blindness. It raises awareness of the challenges these people face, and how they can strive in the normal environment.
